Custom Software Development in Cologne

When spreadsheets, disconnected tools or manual steps slow your team down, it helps to look at the underlying workflow. We build custom software around your work and the systems you already use.

When custom software makes sense

A custom application can help when existing tools make an important workflow unnecessarily difficult. Its benefits, development effort and ongoing operation need to make sense together. Potential tasks include:

  • Internal management interfaces to replace repeatedly maintained spreadsheets.
  • Approvals and recurring workflows with a clear processing status.
  • Reports and dashboards that bring together data from several sources.

From workflow to first prototype

We discuss who will use the application, which data it needs and which steps currently take too much time. This gives us prioritized requirements and a clearly scoped first version. A prototype lets you review the interaction and test assumptions before extensive functionality is developed.

  • Define the core task and measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Limit the first version to essential users and features.
  • Incorporate feedback before adding further modules.

Use automation and AI where they fit

Repeated data entry, transfers and reporting are often candidates for automation. AI-powered features are considered where they suit the specific task. Data quality, potential errors and necessary human review are part of the design. Before integrating an external service, we clarify what data it would receive and whether it is needed at all.

Interfaces, permissions and tests

An application needs to work with the surrounding business processes. We plan integrations, user roles and the handling of missing or invalid data. Tests focus on the agreed core functionality. Handover includes documentation needed for operation and an agreement on responsibility for updates, backups and future development.

What determines the cost of custom software?

A useful proposal needs more than a feature list. Integrations, data migration, user permissions and operational requirements affect the effort. Development and recurring costs are considered separately.

  • Feature scope and the number of distinct user roles.
  • Data quality and the availability of existing interfaces.
  • Testing, documentation, hosting and agreed further development.

What to include in your first inquiry

Describe a typical workflow, the tools involved and the outcome you need. Examples using fictional data are sufficient initially; do not send credentials or confidential customer data through the contact form. We review feasibility and scope together. Common questions

How much does custom software cost?

The effort depends on features, integrations, user roles and quality requirements. We prepare a proposal after defining the scope. A smaller first version can help test important assumptions before adding more functionality.

Can you extend existing software?

We review the technology, documentation and access rights first. Before committing, we assess whether the application can reasonably be extended and identify relevant risks and dependencies.

How do you keep scope and effort understandable?

We define the first version and its acceptance criteria in advance. New requests are discussed in terms of value, effort and timeline before changing the agreed scope. An initial inquiry does not constitute a commitment to a fixed price or delivery date.

Does my application need AI?

No. If fixed rules or straightforward automation solve the task reliably, AI is unnecessary. The technical choice depends on the task, data and running costs.

Who maintains the application after handover?

Responsibilities for hosting, maintenance, access and future development are agreed in advance. We can provide technical support, with its scope defined in the proposal.
